Yesterday we got a batch of sixteen character posters for The Expendables 3, and now Lionsgate and Millennium Films has released a brand new 'Roll Call' teaser trailer for the upcoming action sequel via Yahoo! Movies, and we've got it for you right here...

In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Barney, Christmas and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks, who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables -- but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables’ most personal battle yet.

The Expendables 3 sees Patrick Hughes (Red Hill) directing returning Expendables Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews and Jet Li and franchise newcomers Harrison Ford (Star Wars), Wesley Snipes (Blade), Mel Gibson (Lethal Weapon), Antonio Banderas (Desperado), Kellan Lutz (The Legend of Hercules), Kelsey Grammer (X-Men: The Last Stand), Glen Powell (The Dark Knight Rises), Ronda Rousey (Fast & Furious 7) and Victor Ortiz.

The Expendables 3 is set for release on August 15th.

As the media frenzy around JK Rowling publishing the History of the Quidditch World Cup online has shown, we're all still pretty damn obsessed with Harry Potter. And why not? It's a story that has all the ingredients of a timeless classic. And the films were pretty good too! Thankfully, if you're feeling you need a Potter fix over and above JK's new writings, the Warner Bros. Studio Tour near Watford is the perfect day out. You get to go behind the scenes of the most successful film franchise of all time, and wander around the spectacular sets that they made the films on too.

Whether you're a Harry Potter fan or just a film buff, the Making of Harry Potter at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour is a truly magical experience. Here are 5 great things that you'll get to see on the tour:

Hogwarts Castle

If you've ever wanted to visit Hogwarts, this is your chance! You'll walk through the Great Hall and Dumbledore's office, and even get a close look at the incredible 360 degree scale model of Hogwarts Castle, a work of art in itself, which was crafted by 86 artists and crew members, and took over 74 years of man hours to build. The model is nearly 50 feet in diameter and has over 2,500 fibre optic lights which act as lanterns and torches, helping give the illusion of students passing through hallways in the films. A day-to-night cycle takes place every four minutes so you can experience it!

Broomstick flying

Yes, you'll get to see some actual broomstick flying and you can even try it yourself! You sit on your broom in front of a big green screen while a fan blows wind into your hair, so you get a real sense of what it was like for the actors as you fly over Hogwarts and all the sights of London.

Spell casting

Whilst you're at the Harry Potter Tour, the staff like to get you to work! So you will get taught how to cast a few spells and get acquainted with exactly how to engage in a wand duel.

Diagon Alley

You'll get to stand on the amazing Diagon Alley, the very place where Harry first enters to magical world of wizards. You can read a few spell books at Flourish & Blotts book shop or maybe you'll choose new wand at Wiseacres Wizarding Equipment?

The Winged Stars of Harry Potter

This April, Warner Bros. Studios will open the 'Feathers and Flight' feature for all visitors, inviting them to discover how the film-makers designed the owls, ravens and all other winged beasts of the films. You’ll be able to pose for a photograph with Harry Potter’s beloved Hedwig, arguably the most famous owl in film. You’ll also meet the other owlish stars, including Ron Weasley’s Pigwidgeon and the Weasley family’s Errol. Also included on the tour will be an explanation of how the crew trained the crows that appear on the film: you’ll be quite surprised at how smart they are!

So there you have it, 5 great things to see on your visit to the Warner Bros. Studio Tour. Book your tickets now!

Denis Villeneuve casts Amy Adams and Emily Blunt in Story of Your Life and Sicario

Prisoners director Denis Villeneuve is certainly busy. He already has the Jake Gyllenhaal starring Enemy ready for release in the next month, and he also has two films ready to enter production.

The first will see him teaming up with Amy Adams (Man of Steel) for Story of Your Life, in which Adams will play an expert linguist taken by the military to determine whether extra-terrestrials have come in peace or as a threat. As she learns to communicate with the aliens, she begins experiencing vivid flashbacks that become the key to unlocking the mystery about the true purpose of their visit.

Villeneuve also has Sicario in production with Emily Blunt (Edge of Tomorrow) set to star. Blunt will play an officer from Tucson who travels across the border to Mexico with a pair of mercenaries in order to track down a drug lord.

Villeneuve is certainly a talent and both of these should be ones to watch out for.

Movie Review - Noah (2014)

Noah, 2014.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky.
Starring Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth and Nick Nolte.

SYNOPSIS:

A man is chosen by God to undertake a momentous mission of rescue before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.

Boy do I love me some crazy.  I’m such a fan of enormous, garish spectacles.  Movies like David Lynch’s Dune that are just so wildly over the top that you wonder how they ever came to be.  In the final scenes when Kyle MacLachlan if riding a giant worm into battle to a smooth rock soundtrack provided by Toto, you just marvel at all the insanity you watch unfolding in front of you.  Or any of the big budget works from the warped mind of Terry Gilliam.   I could watch The Adventures of Baron Munchhausen or Time Bandits a thousand times.  We are given so many by-the-book blockbusters every year.  Uneventful, uninspired multi million dollar tributes to mediocrity.  Every so often we’re gifted with a movie like Noah.

Darren Aronofsky’s latest film is kind of a masterpiece.  It’s an unconventional Biblical epic that combines crazy mythology, apocalyptic action, and the challenges of blind faith.  The best compliment I can pay the movie is that I can’t recall ever having seen anything like it.  For those of you unfamiliar with Aronofsky’s surreal films, he has made a very diverse slate of movies like the science fiction themed The Fountain and gritty depressing dramas like Requiem for a Dream and The WrestlerNoah is something that feels like a natural evolution of his dark, dour dramas and grand ideas of his more experimental works.

You probably know the basics of the story.  Noah (Russell Crowe) is a good man in a wicked world.  God (or as they call him throughout the movie ‘The Creator’) shows him a vision of a world where the sinners are washed away in a grand flood and Noah is tasked with saving the innocent non-human creatures of the world.  The world feels remarkably non-biblical.  There are no sandals and flowing hippie robes here.  It’s a barren landscape that somehow manages to feel like the end of days and the beginning of humanity at the same time.  Noah follows his vision to the mountain of his Grandfather Methuselah (Anthony Hopkins) and begins to build the ark that will carry the last vestiges of the old world.

Noah’s family obliges, but even they question the wisdom of their actions.  Noah has three sons and only one has a female companion.  His second son Ham (Logan Lerman) wishes to find a wife and doesn't’ exactly care for the idea of spending the rest of his days alone with a boat full of farm animals.  The characters are portrayed with a lot of depth, frailties, and failings.  Noah begins to wonder if his journey isn’t just about saving the animals but shepherding humanity into oblivion.  If every human being is wicked, shouldn’t they too be purged from this new Eden the creator is engineering?

There are so many things going on in Noah.  There are the small character moments of a family being torn apart by the unyielding faith of their father.  There’s the struggle for survival by all the people that aren’t Noah’s family.  The remnants of the human race led by Tubal-Cain (Ray Winstone) who aren’t that pleased to hear that God is going to wipe them from the face of the Earth.  They form a tent city near Noah’s precious ark and decide the best way to survive God’s wrath is to bum rush the ark, kick the animals to the curb, and ride the whole thing out.  Aronofsky blends some great epic fantasy elements with a grounded, real world logic.  You hear the story of Noah and the Ark, but didn’t you wonder what everyone else was doing?  Apparently they were not really happy with their death sentence and were only stopped by a bunch of magic rock monsters that are actually fallen angels.  Yes, there are giant rock monsters in this movie.  You didn’t think Noah just built the whole thing himself, did you?

Life.  Death.  Annihilation.  Giant magic rock monsters from Heaven.  This movie is ten pounds of crazy in a five pound bag and I loved every weird minute of it.  Noah is one of the most wonderful cinematic surprises I can ever remember.  The acting is great.  The story is just nuts, and the visuals are spectacular.  I wish Hollywood took more risks like this from filmmakers who are interested in doing something different.  Some of you are going to love Noah.  Some of you are just going to hate it.  To me, that’s the divine sign of a successful film.

We couldn't end the week without more footage from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, could we? Of course not, and here it is, courtesy of a brand new extended TV spot for the upcoming superhero sequel, which you can check out after the official synopsis....

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man. For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen. But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro, Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn, returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is set for release on April 18th in the UK and on May 1st in North America, with a cast that includes returning stars Andrew Garfield (Spider-Man), Emma Stone (Gwen Stacy), Sally Field (Aunt May), Chris Zylka (Flash Thompson), Campbell Scott (Richard Parker), Embeth Davidtz (Mary Parker), Martin Sheen (Ben Parker) and Denis Leary (George Stacy) alongside new additions Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) as Electro, Dane DeHaan (Chronicle) as Harry Osborn, Paul Giamatti (12 Years a Slave) as The Rhino, Chris Cooper (American Beauty) as Norman Osborn, Colm Feore (Thor) as Donald Menken, Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) as Felicia Hardy, Marton Csokas (The Lord of the Rings) as Dr. Kafka and B.J.
